Thumbs up!"It was more a balanced marriage of flavors than a starring role/supporting actor style presentation. The blueberry flavor was light and a consistent overtone working with the also consistent presence of the white tea flavor. I really enjoyed this aspect of the tea."

zhi-white-blueberry.jpgI have been sampling a lot of white teas with either fruit or floral flavors introduced to the mix. Generally, I am a "purist" with white tea but really only in the sense that I really like the delicate nature of white tea. I generally don't like to lose that flavor entirely when introducing companion scents or flavors. My preliminary sense is that a delicate flavor pairing can be really exemplary when it comes to white tea pair ups. White tea is gentle in its flavorings, which can really be a nice backdrop for other scents and flavors. This was certainly the case with Zhi's Blueberry White.

The tea itself is quite pretty to look at. The white tea is paired up with a blue/violet flower (though it's definitely NOT a blueberry flower...I'm not sure what this flower is) and an occasional dried blueberry. It has a pleasant scent to it as well, nice and blueberry-ish. I brewed it at 185 degrees for about 5 minutes. Brewed, the liquor is light in color. Now for the taste...I was most interested to see if the blueberry would be overwhelming and steal the show, or if the white tea could hold it's own against a strong fruit flavor. I was really surprised and pleased with how nice and refreshing the taste of this tea was! The blueberry was present, to be sure, but the white tea came through hand in hand with the berry flavor. It was more a balanced marriage of flavors than a starring role/supporting actor style presentation. The blueberry flavor was light and a consistent overtone working with the also consistent presence of the white tea flavor. I really enjoyed this aspect of the tea.

This was a great, refreshing, light tea. The flavors, to my taste, were really well suited to one another, blended very well so as to compliment each other. I really liked that I could continue to taste the white tea during my cups. The best attribute of this Zhi blend, in my opinion, is that the blueberry is delicate, not overpowering or phony tasting. The tastes had a truly delightful clarity.

Not bad. Just got some over the weekend. There are tons of blueberry blends out there and this one is about average. I enjoyed it iced better than hot
