teavkukimatchaLately I’ve been on a matcha-loving kick; I adore the frothy green scent combined with the shockingly strong kick-in-the-pants aftereffects. For the uninitiated, if a person doesn’t already love green tea, this may take some getting used to depending on their reasons. For instance, if they feel green tea is too weak, this may be the tea for them. If they are already a fan of green tea’s fresh vegetal taste, this is an addictive step up in strength, delicacy, and flavor. For better or worse, I associate matcha with matcha green tea ice creams and love the mental associations with creamy, soothing deliciousness. As a side note, I’m convinced that green tea ice cream should only be made with matcha unless the cook hates flavor or would prefer unhappy guests at his or her table. Teavana’s Kuki Matcha is a mix of matcha powder and roasted Kukicha. The addition of the kukicha gives the tea a pleasant warmth that I haven’t noticed in other, usually colder feeling, matcha teas. The website suggests a brewing time of one minute. I didn’t read that suggestion until my cup had been brewing for two, but I still love the result. Teavana has made a deep, energizing, and delicious morning or afternoon tea with Kuki Matcha. The only negative is eye-widening caffeinated effect that will keep me from enjoying this in the evening. A great choice for project-oriented days.
