adagiohoneybushAdagio was the first company I ever bought tea from (mostly because of the ingenuiTEA) but lately I have begun to find their tea to be lacking in the flavor that I truly enjoy. However, after trying the Honeybush Orange, I may have to re-evaluate my opinion.

The first thing I like to do is smell the leaves themselves. And while this is the first time I’ve ever tried a honeybush tea, I noticed that the fragrance of the tea was not as strong as most rooibos teas can be. I think that rooibos leave can often have a stronger almost medicinal smell like a cough syrup, while this honeybush didn't have that same pungent aroma. The honeybush orange had an extremely noticeable orange citrus sent that immediately made me think of orange peels, which of course were blended with the tea. I did not get the impression from this scent that they used any citrus chemicals which I certainly give two thumbs up for.
The first thing I noticed after steeping the tea was its fantastic deep amber orange color. And after taking my first sip I knew I was hooked. I like to think of where a particular drink takes me or what I’m reminded of, and the wonderful blood orange citrus combined with the slightly sweet tasting honeybush brought me instantly back to a summer afternoon on the patio with friends and family. I think that this tea would be wonderful served as iced tea, and because it’s a honeybush blend, I see absolutely no reason to add any sweetener at all.

Overall I would give this blend 8.5 of 10, and at only 10 cents a cup I feel that this is quite a steal!
