gmwhitepersianmelonMy first impression of Golden Moon’s White Persian Melon’s dry leaves was that this was most likely going to be a good quality white tea with a lightly sweet melon aroma. What I experienced after allowing the leaves to brew for 3 ½ minutes was a truly succulent tea that goes a long way in proving to me that no matter how important aroma is to the tea experience, there is nothing as important as taste! This tea is packed with melon flavor from start to finish. The first and most prevalent taste to me is that of incredibly fresh honeydew. Being a huge fan of honeydew I could immediately tell that I was going to enjoy this cup even more than I had anticipated. The taste of the honeydew is so amazing that at first I actually didn’t notice much else by way of flavor. But after a few sips I noticed that the cantaloupe is nearly as noticeable, but more so at the end of the sip. The Golden Moon website describes this as a white tea scented with sweet melon nectar. When I contemplate the word scented, I expect the melon to be noted more in the aroma than in the flavor. But to me, this was exactly the opposite. It absolutely tastes like I have added fresh melon juices to the white tea base myself, but is probably even better than that as the blending is done to perfection. The delicate white tea base used is perfect in that it stands back supportively and allows the melon to bask in the glory.

Golden Moon states that this tea stands up well to multiple infusions, so I had to put that claim to the test. After enjoying my second cup, I can definitely attest to the fact that the second infusion is every bit as delicious as the first although the cantaloupe appears to be more noticeable in the second infusion. I enjoyed both cups hot, but I have no doubt that this would make a light, sweet and refreshing iced tea as well. If like me, the warmer days of spring put you in the mood for fresh fruits, Golden Moon has the tea for you!
