necessiteas-lemon-raspberry.jpg"This tea is a light and refreshing blend of Sencha, raspberry and lemon flavor, accented with lemon peel, lemon grass and raspberries. Great hot or iced!" ---The Necessiteas website.

Sometimes I should kick myself for not paying better attention to recommendations of others. This blend was recommended to me a number of times as a must-try from The Necessiteas and, for whatever reason, I have never tried until today. As I pilfered through my current stash of samples looking for something that might match my mood, I came across this. I decided to open it and the words, "Oh, yum, that smells good," crossed my lips as I breathed the aroma in. The predominant smell is that of lemon and it is a nice natural smelling lemon. My sample has lots lemon peel, lemongrass and some whole dried raspberry pieces in it!

I prepared this in water cut short of boiling and steeped the leaves for 3 min. Considering that the green tea base is sencha, it is very mild and dominated by a nice, refreshing lemon flavor. The lemon flavor profile is not reminiscent of lemon cleaning agents, but instead is a little creamy with a bit of zest to it. The raspberry is harder to detect in the blend, but is there and as you drink the cup, you begin to notice it more and more in the aftertaste. I do prefer this cup lightly sweetened with a bit of rock cane sugar.

In my opinion, this is the ultimate lemon green tea. If you are looking for something with a more equal lemon and raspberry flavor profile, then you might be disappointed with this. If a delicious lemon green tea with a raspberry aftertaste appeals to you, then you will love this. Overall, I really enjoyed this cup and plan to include some of this in my next order from The Necessiteas. I think this a great blend as we move into the warm months of summer.
