kalaharigingerzestTeabags have the stigmata of being, in many cases, much lower in quality that most loose leaf teas. And while strictly speaking this is true, as the leaves generally used in teabags are lower-quality, there are quite a few brands of tea that offer teabags that, despite being a lower quality, taste pretty darn good anyway, and you can't really beat the convenience they offer. Kalahari's ginger zest sencha isn't the greatest bagged tea I've ever tried, but it certainly isn't the worst, either.

It smells pretty strongly of ginger, which is certainly a good thing if you like ginger (if you don't, you probably shouldn't have tried this tea ;) ), and pretty strong dose of crisp green tea. The brew, on the other hand, smells pretty much of green tea and nothing, and the taste follows suit. You can taste ginger, and it becomes more pronounced as the tea cools, but it still would have been nice if it were a bit more prevalent. Also, the green tea doesn't taste quite as clean and crisp as it smelled; it actually tastes more hojicha or genmaicha, kind of roasted. Not really a bad thing, but it doesn't fit the ginger flavor all that well.

Bottom Line: Not awful, but if you're looking for the convenience of teabags and enjoy ginger and/or green tea, it couldn't hurt to give this one a try.
