numimintpuerh.jpgThis is my first experience with puerh of any kind, and while it may not have been the best choice to start out with teabags, I've always been fairly impressed with the quality of Numi's bagged teas, and this one does not disappoint.

The teabag before brewing smelled minty, no surprise there. It wasn't overpoweringly minty, but pleasantly and sweetly minty. The brewed tea takes on a much more organic scent, while the mint retreats to more of an undertone. The tea, however, balances minty and earthy almost perfectly. The mint is certainly present, but not once again not overpowering (not an easy task with mint), and the earthy, organic element is crisp and refreshing, reminding me of how fresh cut grass smells (tastes much better than grass clippings, though ;) )

Bottom Line: While I don't have a loose-leaf or cake variety of puerh to compare to, by simply going by the standard of loose tea to tea bags, this is an excellent bagged tea. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth it if you're looking for a quality mint blend that doesn't rely solely on mint.
