teavanalemongrassMany moons ago I tried a tea called Lemon Meringue Pie. It was delicious, but I haven't been able to find it at the company since, so I have been keeping an eye out for substitutes. This blend sounded similar, so I decided to give it a go, hoping for that lemony creamy goodness I remembered so fondly.

Upon first sniff the dry rooibos smells divine and appears intriguing with big chunks of apple and lemongrass. As with many rooibos blends, I suggest being generous with how much of the dry herbs you use - I used 1 teaspoon for about 7 ounces of water in my first cup, and it ended up being a bit weak. For my second cup, I used 1 1/2 teaspoons, and the result was much bolder and more appealing. The steeped blend ends up being a very pale yellow, but enough dilly-dallying and let's move onto taste...

This tastes exactly like a turkish apple herbal (an easy-to-find and tasty blend available at numerous companies including Upton Tea: and SpecialTeas' Rooibos Lemon Chiffon ( mated and had beautiful little creamy, appley, lemony goodness babies. The lemon is tamed by the vanilla, so it does not end up being a sour drink, yet it is neither overly sweet. It has a light and refreshing flavour that would lend itself well to being iced. Assuming it ever stops being cold up here in Canada, this is the perfect summer blend.
