chocolattematchamint.jpg"We married Sencha green tea with matcha powdered green tea. We blend it with rich dark cacao, then balance it with the deep coolness of peppermint to produce this sweet, indulgent, natural cup." --- Kalahari website.

While not a fan of plain green teas, I do try to consume some flavored ones on a regular basis because of the potential health benefits. I am always on the lookout for a new tasty blend to try and since this blend promises both a chocolate and mint experience, I am a likely fan. Kalahari lists the ingredients as Organic Sencha Green Tea, Organic Peppermint, Organic matcha Green Tea, Organic Dark Roasted Cacao, and Organic chocolate flavor.

I steeped the eco-friendly bag in water cut short of boiling for four min. The dry bag offered a very pleasant aroma alluded to a nice chocolate-mint cup. This blend is actually pretty tasty. Your taste buds are first greeted by the peppermint and then there is a nice dark chocolate aftertaste. The interesting thing is that as this cooled, and despite some pretty strong flavoring, I am still able to taste the green tea base. While I am not a fan of the vegetal-ness of certain green teas, this is subtle--yet there. I actually enjoyed flirting with the taste of the green tea while downing my cup and in spite of the fact that the green tea was sencha.

While this is not the best chocolate-mint green tea on the market (I like Rockin Moroccan Mint from The Necessiteas), it is the best bagged one that I've come across. It is nicely balanced and does provide enough of a dessert-like experience to satisfy a mellow chocolate craving. Thus, I would recommend this to folks that require the convenience of bagged teas.
