teaspotgreenroastedmintI've been trying to expand my green tea horizons lately, and when I had the chance to review this Green Roasted Mint with hojicha, I was intrigued. I'd never tried hojicha; a Japanese roasted green, but I do enjoy roasted, nutty teas. I was hoping I would like it, and I did, very much so.

Peppermint is the most dominant flavor in this tea while there is a nice roasted hojicha aftertaste that gives this tea a lot of depth. According to the site, this tea can easily be steeped twice if you follow steeping directions. Since it is a very humid day here in Ohio, I was betting I'd enjoy this iced much more. I decided to simply let my hot tea cool, then add ice. I was very surprised upon my first sip of this tea cold. The nuttiness of the hojicha was huge! Peppermint still came through strongly, but the new roasted flavor was fantastic. I think I'll make it a point to try all teas iced over the summer. If I can find another tea who's flavor profile changes so much upon icing, I think I owe it to myself to try both ways.

This is certainly a tea I will consider purchasing in the future. I didn't even have to sweeten this to enjoy it. In fact, I think sweetener would have taken away from the different, subtle levels of flavor here.
