rishicitron"Rooibos, tropical lemongrass and green tea offer antioxidants and soothing notes of fresh orange blossom, tangerine and jasmine. 2006 World Tea Expo's "Best Green Iced Tea". ---Rishi website.

One thing about summertime is that I drink a lot more of my tea iced. Since becoming a tea addict, however, I do tend to consume most of my tea hot rather than cold. My sample came to me in a tea filter and I prepared this according to Rishi's brewing instructions. I did have a few concerns about those brewing instructions as this is a green tea and they suggest using boiling water and infusing the tea for 5 min. My instincts were screaming, "No, it will be bitter!" However, my concerns were for nothing as Rishi's recommended preparation produced a cup that lacked any bitterness.

Rishi lists the ingredients in this as: Organic green tea, Organic Fair Trade Certified™ green rooibos, Organic lemongrass, Organic lemon myrtle, natural essential oils of bergamot, orange, tangerine and lemongrass and Organic jasmine flowers. The jasmine does kind of dominate the flavor profile, but it is accompanied by some nice citrusy notes. To me, the citrus notes lean more towards orange blossoms than lemongrass. Thankfully, the bergamot went un-noticed as I drank this. I did find that I liked this mildly sweetened with what equates to about two teaspoons of rock cane sugar for the pitcher.

Overall, I found this blend to be both refreshing and tasty. Orange blossoms, lemongrass and jasmine are all things that often embody excellent tea blends and remind me of summer drinks. While the primary flavor is jasmine, it is not a super strong, in-your-face jasmine that is so overwhelming that you can't distinguish the citrus. The citrus and jasmine combine nicely into a delicious cup of iced tea that is best enjoyed on a warm day---and preferably while sitting outside and enjoying something prepared on the grill :).
