rishicitronI am a believer in trying to get people to enjoy things they thing they don't like, especially when it's tea. My in-laws have been visiting this month, and they strongly believe they didn't like tea. Thankfully they love powdered iced tea, but since that's more sugar than tea, and what "tea" it hasn't isn't steeped, I don't think it really counts. All it took was one pitcher of cold gunpowder green with a hint of sugar, and now they're hooked on the real thing, leaving the econosize container of Nestea concentrate lonely and abandoned. Awesome, except for the fact that I'm running out of good teas for icing, and there's no way I'm dipping into my private reserves.

Thankfully, Rishi has come to the rescue with their Citron Green iced tea, which should last all of 4 seconds in this house. I steeped the bag in 16 ounces of hot water for 5 minutes, added 16 ounces of cold water, and stuck it in the fridge after carefully explaining to everyone that if they drank it, I'd have to remove limbs.

...24 Hours pass... I first tried this tea without adding anything, and I was immediately disappointed. The green tea flavour didn't come through at all, the lemongrass was unreasonably dominant, and the flavour was flat overall.

I decided to add a touch of agave nectar, and wow. Just wow. I'm not sure if it's just because I prefer most iced teas with a touch of sweetener, but the agave nectar really brought this tea to life! It brought out the jasmine and bergamot, blending all the flavours together perfectly. With that bit of liquid gold, this became a balanced, refreshing blend.
