teasetcbaimudan1This offering of Bai mu dan from Teas etc. is one of the finer bai mu dan teas that I have had. The dry leaves are pale green, long, and downy, basically what one should expect from a good white tea. The scent of the leaves is distinctly white, highlighted by crisp and sweet elements. I prepared the tea exactly as directed by Teas etc. (using sub-boiling water and infusing 1 heaping teaspoon of leaves for 3-4 minutes). The tea takes on a yellowish-golden hue. The flavor of this tea is complex, yet still delicate. The tea has a hint of vegetal flavor to it, but no where near what you might taste from a green tea. The vegetal notes are much muted and provide a subtle background for the buttery and sweet flavors in this tea. The winning aspect for me was the buttery creaminess of this tea. Yes, it is still a light tea overall, but is creamy by white tea standards. I found myself savoring every sip of this tea. As soon as my cup was empty, I brewed myself a second cup by infusing the same leaves. I am happy to say that the leaves held up fairly well to a second infusion. The general flavor profile of the second cup was fairly similar to that of the first infusion, however it was a bit more delicate. Both cups, however, were equally enjoyable. This is a great Bai Mu Dan and one that I would be likely to buy for myself. I would recommend this tea to others.
