mightyleaf-marakesh-mint.jpg"Gunpowder green tea from China and refreshing Moroccan peppermint blend together to create our Marrakesh Mint green tea. Enjoy this classic green tea blend and find yourself whisked away to cascading waterfalls deep in the mountains of Morocco. Host friends and family with this lively green tea brightened with peppermint cultivated on a mountain in Tiznit." ---Mighty Leaf website.

Mighty Leaf is one of those companies that I have had mixed experiences with. Awhile back, I bought a number of items from them and was not really thrilled with any of my purchases. However, I have sampled a number of their blends through Teaviews and have had some better experiences with them lately. My sample of this blend consists of one tea pouch. Mighty Leaf makes these very nice tea pouches that kind of set the standard for upscale teabags. Mighty Leaf lists the ingredients of this blend to be simply green tea and peppermint.

I prepared this with water brought to steaming and infused for 3 min. The flavor profile is of a very strong mint. It does dominate the cup and largely overpowers the mild gunpowder green tea. While the mint is strong and the tea mild, there is something about this that is just ever so slightly off as the overall blend just seems a bit thin. I think that the green tea base used needs to be a bit stronger in order to properly stand up to the peppermint. I don't want this to imply that the green tea base is awful or anything. There is nothing wrong with it, but I just think it is too mild for this peppermint.

Overall, there is nothing actually wrong with this blend. The bottom line is (yes, I am repeating myself) that the peppermint overwhelms the green tea in this blend. The peppermint is actually pretty good and a cup of this blend could be used in a situation where a toothbrush has gone missing. However, I actually prefer a less intense peppermint unless maybe I am dying from too much garlic or something. I wouldn't turn down another cup of this if you offered it to me, but I doubt that I will end up purchasing this one for myself.
