Thumbs up!"This is a clean-tasting and strongly flavored tisane that I would recommend to those looking for true lemony flavor tea but aren't necessarily looking for a sweetly-flavored blend."

teasetclemonhoneybushLemon honeybush is a naturally caffeine-free blend of honeybush, lemongrass, and lemon myrtle, all of which are organic. The lemon grass and lemon myrtle are clearly present in respectable amounts. The scent of the dry blend is fairly strong, offering a clean citrus smell that is not too far from the lemon scent of many dish soaps. The tea brews to a fairly dark color, similar to a strong black tea or perhaps a watery cup of coffee. This tea offers an intense lemon flavor, so much so that it completely overwhelms the honeybush flavor. Granted my experience with honeybush is fairly limited, but when I think of honeybush, I usually think of an herbal tea that is similar to rooibos, yet sweeter and not so nutty in its flavor. Sweet lemon flavor was, therefore, what I expected. The lemon flavor here, however, is clean and tart, and any sweetness offered by the honeybush is absent (or totally masked by the strong lemon flavor of the lemongrass and lemon myrtle). Again, I must compare it to the lemon of a dish soap, although I can honestly say I have never actually tasted dish soap! The honeybush, although not really detectable in a sweet flavor sense, does seem to give the blend more substance than a tisane brewed solely from lemongrass and lemon myrtle. This makes the tea heartier and better able to serve as a dessert tea (for which I would recommend adding sugar) or a morning brew. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a sweeter blend and I think this could have been accomplished by tinkering with the amounts of each ingredient added to the blend, but of course that's also nothing that a little spoonful of sugar couldn't fix! Overall this is a clean-tasting and strongly flavored tisane that I would recommend to those looking for true lemony flavor tea but aren't necessarily looking for a sweetly-flavored blend.
