Thumbs up!"The pear flavor is delicious despite that it is not the most natural tasting pear ever. The ginger adds just the right amount of heat to make this interesting."

teafortewhiteginger"An unusual blend of fine white tea and crisp ginger balanced by Japanese pear. A sweet, almost juicy, infusion with a surprising dry finish." ----Tea Forte website.

This is one of those blends that kept getting passed over when selecting a tea for review. I think the primary reason is that when I try to get a whiff of it from outside of the pyramid packaging, all I smell is ginger. While I happen to like ginger, it just hasn't smelled all that appealing to me. I decided to choose this one tonight because my tummy is a little cranky and I am hopeful the ginger will help out with the spicy soup that I had with dinner. Despite my misgivings, just seconds after the clever little tea pyramid sachet that Tea Forte is famous for hit the water in my tea cup, I could smell the delicious pear scent and knew that I was in for a delicious treat. That is so often the case when I pass over a blend repeatedly.

Tea Forte lists the ingredients in this blend as ginger, blackberry leaves, lemon balm leaves, white tea, mallow flowers and flavoring. I prepared this in water that was beginning to steam and have bubbles rise to the top of the pot and infused the cute tea pyramid for a full 4 min. This cup is pretty tasty and has a full flavor profile. The pear is the dominant flavor of the cup with the ginger having a more subtle spicy role on the finish. However, as you consume the cup, the ginger builds in your mouth with its subtle yet spicy bite. The pear is maybe not the most natural tasting pear flavor profile that I've encountered. I would say that it is more of candy pear flavor, but very delicious. The white tea is subtle and relatively overpowered by the flavor profile. It is a bit dry and a good choice for the flavors used in this blend.

I found this to be an excellent dessert white tea. It is light, refreshing, and satisfying. The pear flavor is delicious despite that it is not the most natural tasting pear ever. The ginger adds just the right amount of heat to make this interesting. I would also bet that Tea Forte's Iced version of this would be excellent. This is a very well done offering from Tea Forte and one that I will add to my cart when I also purchase their Coco Truffle. Not every offering from Tea Forte has been a winner with me, but when they get it right....they get it right.
