chaibabybeautyChai Baby!’s Beauty Blend is perfect for a winter evening when you really don’t want to have a hot drink containing caffeine. According to their website:

Be beautiful, baby! Our Beauty Blend consists of the South African herb Rooibos, as well as hibiscus, chamomile, rosehips and more. Rooibos (also known as Red Tea) is chock full of antioxidants, iron, minerals and alpha hydroxy acids -- great for the body and skin! Enjoy the earthy, fruity flavors. This blend contains no caffeine.

This blend is 100% organic and Fair Trade Certified

Chai Baby!’s tea all come in pyramid shaped sachets made of food grade nylon. They are large enough that the teas do have room to expand and with rooibos being so fine they made for an easy clean up. I was able to steep a sachet twice with no noticeable loss of flavor.

The scent wafting from the tea sachet before brewing was purely hibiscus which doesn’t bother me at all as I love the scent and the flavor of the hibiscus flower. I use water that had set for a few minutes after boiling and let the infusion steep for three minutes. The result was a drink that was a medium reddish brown, not the ruby that you usually get from a tea containing hibiscus. The scent of the brewed tea is still primarily that of hibiscus but now the scent of the rooibos makes its appearance. The taste is also the combination of rooibos and hibiscus with the chamomile adding a slight sweetness to the blend. I added just a touch of rock sugar and came up with a taste sensation that I really enjoyed. The first cup disappeared all too quickly and I immediately started in on my second.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Chai Baby! Beauty Blend to anyone that enjoys both rooibos and hibiscus. The downfall I can find in this tisane is the fact that it is only sold in the tea sachets and I really prefer to purchase my teas loose as there is less packaging involved.
