bostonautumnharvest"A bright, refreshing blend of South African Red Rooibos, sweet apple pieces and cinnamon enhanced with tangy lemongrass and rose hips. Autumn Harvest is a delicious and healthful anytime beverage, rich in antioxidants." ---Boston Tea Company website.

Something about a flavor profile with red rooibos, cinnamon, apples and lemongrass sounds very appealing to me. Maybe it is because I have a tendency to squeeze lemon juice onto all kinds of crazy things---soups, vegetables (broccoli and green beans), beer and the list goes on. The sample that I received of this contains nice sized pieces of the ingredients. I must show Boston Tea company some love in this area because they do add all the little extras and it appears that you also get a tin when you order from them.

Anyway, I prepared this using my standard rooibos preparation, which is boiling water and a 5 min infusion. The flavor profile is rather interesting and makes a nice union with the red rooibos base. The flavor profile is kind of apple cinnamon with a touch of lemon zest. It's almost like you had been eating lemon pie and someone set a piece of apple cinnamon pie in front of you and you didn't use a clean fork. However, the result is one of those unusual combinations that you kind of like and maybe even want to try to reconstruct. One of my personal ones (besides the lemon thing) is that I like sour gummy bears with popcorn in the same bite. Yes, a movie theater concoction. This cup is naturally sweet and requires no sweetener to bring out the flavor profile. While I consumed my cup tonight sans any sweetener or dairy, I strongly suspect that this would take a splash of dairy well and in conjunction with a touch of sweetener. I also must agree with another reviewer and say that there is something about this that reminds of cereal---but in a good way.

This blends definitely gets some points for being unique. I have not seen another flavor profile exactly like it. I don't know that I can call this a favorite of mine or one that I would want to drink on frequent basis, but it is indeed tasty. Good enough that I found myself wanting to drink another cup of it the very next day. I haven't made up my mind if I will order this one or not, but it is worth consideration if you like the ingredients used.
