Its OK"I really wanted to taste the raspberry flavor first and foremost, but ultimately the lemongrass overpowered the other ingredients. This tea is high quality and will appeal to those that like tart teas, particularly hibiscus teas."

teavanaraspbrerylemonriotRaspberry Riot Lemon Mate is a Teavana blend that is part fruit tisane, part herbal tea, and part mate. The ingredients listed are: green Mate tea, raspberries, apple bits, rosehips, hibiscus blossoms, lemongrass, and pink rose buds. After visually examining this tea, I had high hopes. This tea contains entire raspberries and decent-sized apple bits mixed among a colorful blend of greens and pinks from the mate, lemongrass, and flowers. Indeed, the tea appears to contain high-quality ingredients. The particles span the size from teensy to large, so you have to shake up the blend very well to make sure that what you are brewing contains representatives of all the different ingredients. I prepared this tea as directed, infusing the blend in near-boiling water for 5 minutes. Despite the raspberry-heavy scent of this blend, I found the flavor to be much of a disappointment. I really wanted to taste the raspberry flavor first and foremost, but ultimately the lemongrass overpowered the other ingredients. I could still taste the raspberry flavor, but it was a watered-down version of what I had anticipated. The tea had an astringently tart aftertaste that was an unmistakeable signature of the hibiscus blossoms. I found this aspect rather off-putting, and truthfully could have done without any of the flowers in the blends. As for the mate, it was actually kind of hard to even taste the mate amongst all of the flavors going on here. This tea had potential to be fantastic, but I think that because fruits don't infuse as well as their flower and leaf counterparts, the non-fruit components would have to be reduced dramatically to see a strong increase in raspberry flavor. This wasn't my personal favorite by a long shot, but I still think that this tea is high quality and will appeal to those that like tart teas, particularly hibiscus teas.
