Thumbs up!"A Chinese black that, while not very deep, is a worthy cup to brew."

drinkleafmaotungAccording to their website, www.drinktheleaf.com, "Keemun grown in the Anhui Province, near a high mountain lake. The dry leaf is black and golden. The color of this tea is one of my favorites in our selection- like a "red peach" but with a darker amber hue. The aroma is great, but the flavor is the key to this tea. Medium to full, with caramel and honey notes, and a long finish. Enjoy this tea- a new discovery for us."

No brewing instructions so I did the standard for black tea: 200F water for 3 minutes. Only one steep this time, since it's not a blend, flavored tea, or a tea recommended for multiple infusions.

Color is amber, borderline flat brown. The smell is malty, earth, and this curious sea/brine smell that I always get from good black teas. Taste is quite pleasant. I get rose, malt, wet dirt, and a honey sweetness on the finish that holds for a good fifteen seconds. Little mouth-pucker; it is smooth and refreshing.

This is a pretty nice tea. I do have to admit it isn't the most complex tea but it is delicious in its own simplicity. I would definitely stock this regularly. And it's a pretty good price to boot.
