Thumbs up!"The natural raspberry flavor was easily detectable and very delicious. There was just a hint of tartness, but the mild green tea base seemed to provide enough sweetness to balance that out."

culinarybohemianraspberryCulinary Teas gets a bonus point for the clever name of its Bohemian Raspberry green tea, as I have to admit it made me smile when I read the title on my sample packet. This tea is a sencha-based blend that contains all natural flavorings. The leaves were lighter in color and broader in shape than I expected of a sencha. The green tea leaves were accented by little reddish specks of what I can only assume were raspberry pieces and/or flower petals. The aroma of this tea is a raspberry lover's dream. It is sweet and strong, and somewhat candy-like. I was more than impressed with the flavor of this tea. The natural raspberry flavor was easily detectable and very delicious. There was just a hint of tartness, but the mild green tea base seemed to provide enough sweetness to balance that out. I did not even have to consider adding any sweetener to this tea, as the flavor was perfectly balanced as it was. As mentioned, the green tea base was very gentle, which to me was well-suited for a raspberry tea. I don't think a vegetal green tea would have blended very well with raspberries. However, those looking for a stronger green tea flavor may be disappointed. This tea was smooth, sweet and easy-drinking. At colder temperatures, this was not too different from the better-quality flavored waters. Those looking to increase consumption of green tea and/or calorie-free alternatives to syrup-laden sodas will be very pleased with this tea.
