Its OK"This tea is far from my all-around favorite Assam, but as far as providing a needed morning pick-me-up, it certainly got the job done. "

kteaslogoThis tea's name is very indicative of its potency. Assam teas are generally acknowledged for being good breakfast teas, and this little number offered by K Teas excels as a morning tea and as an excellent kick-start to the day. The dry blend consists of smallish-leaves that are tightly curled and displaying various hues of brown, from tan to dark. The dry leaves are not very fragrant, but I found the brewed tea to be plenty flavorful. I brewed my leaves in boiling water for 3 minutes. As expected, the tea was a dark coppery-brown color. The tea has a very heavy-bodied mouth feel to it, and it is this strength of its body that makes this a great morning tea. The flavor was not too complex, having primarily malty notes. Other flavors commonly observed in Assams, such as cocoa or caramel notes, were not evident to me. This tea has a definite astringent finish, and for this reason you will want to watch your steep time. I don't imagine this tea to be too forgiving on extended brew times. This tea just about begged for a little bit of sugar and milk to balance out the astringency. This tea is far from my all-around favorite Assam, but as far as providing a needed morning pick-me-up, it certainly got the job done.
