kteaslogoKTeas describes their Raspberry Yogurt Black Tea as “A smooth and softly fruity tea with the flavor of ripe raspberries and creamy yogurt.”. The ingredients are listed as Black teas from India, Ceylon and China, raspberry leaves, raspberries, and natural flavor. Okay, so they get points for actually using raspberries in the raspberry tea, but I am wondering how the yogurt flavor was captured in that vague “natural flavor. Looking at the dry blend, I was surprised at how much the raspberry leaves contributed. Although the black tea leaves were surely dominant, there was a rather generous amount of raspberry leaves as well. The scent and flavor of this tea did tend towards raspberry, but I am not sure I would have readily identified it as raspberry (rather than some generic fruity or berry flavor) had I not known beforehand that this was a raspberry blend. The tea base was pretty decent. It was strong, but not too robust, and it also did not give off any bitterness or weird tastes that sometimes occur in flavored teas in which a cheap tea base was used. The fruit flavor was sweet enough on its own that I didn’t need to add any sugar. I didn’t outright note any outstanding creaminess reminiscent of yogurt, but I also wasn’t compelled to add any milk, so the tea does stand well on its own. On a similar note, I didn’t really get much of a yogurt flavor, as I think this tea was more about the raspberries. I tried this tea both hot and iced, and while both were enjoyable, I think the iced tea was just a little better. A tanginess (most likely from the raspberries, but perhaps from the yogurt flavor) was more noticeable when the tea was iced.

Although this wouldn’t qualify as my favorite tea, this product did exceed my expectations. This is a nicely-flavored fruit tea blend that is versatile and can be enojoyed hot or iced. I would recommend this to those that like fruit tea blends.
