coco-la-ven.jpgWhen I noticed this tea in the sample list, I had to give it a try.  Why you ask?  I’ve never tried lavender in anything other than a lotion or shampoo.  Seeing it listed as one of the ingredients piqued my interest.  The dry leaf consists of small, wiry black leaves.  Other ingredients include bits of lavender, coconut, large buds of chamomile flowers, and vanilla.  The scent is just as intriguing as the ingredients and has a heavy contribution from the coconut and lavender with the vanilla peeking through the back.  In dry form, the scent of the chamomile is nowhere to be found.

To prepare my cup I used one teaspoon in boiling water with a five-minute steep, as recommended on the package label.  The aroma of the liquor is interesting.  Once again, the lavender and coconut seem to be the predominant scents.  However after taking my first sip, the chamomile is surprisingly the star of the show, followed closely by the lavender, with the remaining ingredients taking a backseat.  Once the first sip had some time to settle in, I couldn’t help but compare this blend to a lotion or perfume.

The Necessiteas recommends trying this blend with the addition of milk and sugar, so bravely I tried cup number two.  In my opinion, these additions solidify my previous feelings that what I’m consuming is inline with something I would find at Bath and Body Works.  When I requested this tea as a sample, the lavender is what interested me as it makes this particular blend stand out in a sea of options.  Sadly though, the lavender was my least favorite element and without it this tea may have been onto something.  This is a truly unique blend and I’m glad that I had the opportunity to try it.  Unfortunately, it’s just not for me.
