kteaslogoThe scent of the dry leaves falls somewhere between the bold, burnt smell of black teas and the paler, rounder aroma of Greys. The latter is likely the result of the included orange peel and orange oil. The distinction of blood orange actually comes through a bit after the steeping is complete.

Interesting is the fact that the sweet nature of the infused orange ingredients blends so smoothly with the bold character of the leaves themselves. The pull of the robust tea prevents the concoction from swaying too far into the sugary realm of the tasting sphere. Conversely, the spike of the of the fruit provides an uplifting spirit to an otherwise random black tea flavor.

The texture is thinner than most black teas and there is no kick or unpleasant drag on the tongue. While the blood orange lingers a bit longer than ideal, similar to a fruity candy, it isn't enough to detract from a positive experience overall. An easy sipping, fruity black tea, this is a fair buy.
