Thumbs up!"Incredibly smooth and delicious, this is one green tea that I will need to consider having on hand all summer long, as it would make an ideal, refreshing iced tea perfect for poolside sipping."

necessiteas-lemon-raspberry.jpgAs usual, I am wont to shy away from green teas, but the flavored green teas usually hold my interest and are generally delicious, as they hold some flavors better than some black teas, which makes for great blends you don't see in a black. This Lemon Raspberry blend grabbed my interest from the start, and to say I'm not disappointed in my selection is an understatement.

This simple-yet-effective blend takes Japanese sencha and blends in raspberry and lemon flavors (natural? artificial? not sure), and also add some of the real-deal with bits of lemon peel and dried raspberries, and some lemongrass as well. A 3-4 minute steep (anywhere in that range is recommended, as both 3 and 4 minutes yield excellent cups) results in a pale-yellow/green liquor with a potent fragrance. This scent translates to the palate as waves of sweet berry and lemon overtake the taste buds. I added nothing to this tea, and absolutely nothing is needed, as this is pure, unadulterated deliciousness, and sweet enough with whatever additives have been blended with the sencha. There is nary a trace of sencha flavor behind the fruit accents, which means absolutely no astringency or bitterness - save for a bit of puckering lemon flavor, naturally.

Incredibly smooth and delicious, this is one green tea that I will need to consider having on hand all summer long, as it would make an ideal, refreshing iced tea perfect for poolside sipping. It just so happens that it's also impeccably light and tasty hot beverage as well, absolutely bursting with flavor.
