Thumbs up!"If you like rooibos, lemon and vanilla flavors, then this blend is not to be missed. It is a huge cup of yummo and I found myself all but licking the cup to get that last drop out of it."

californialemonmeringue"This is another farmer's market favorite. We usually run out before noon! Lemon Meringue Pie is a comfort blend of fine rooibos tea, a handful of lemongrass, lemon preserves and vanilla bean bits. This tea is excellent hot or cold. Throw some mint leaves in the mix if you're going to have it on ice." ---California Tea House website.

Dessert rooibos blends used to something that I drank on the daily. However, in recent months our relationship has changed. I think I kinda got burned out on them. The good news is that I haven't had many of them recently and tonight this Lemon Meringue Pie blend from CTH is calling my name. I have to say that this smells extremely delicious and reminds me of some other lemon creme blends that I have tried previously. If this is the same as those blends, then the flavor of the brewed cup will not disappoint my tastebuds.

My sample of this blend contains not only the rooibos but also some pieces of lemongrass, some yellow flower petals shreds and some bits of vanilla bean. I prepared this using boiling water and infused a generous tablespoon of this for about 6 min. I also added a pinch of German rock cane sugar. While I can't say for certain if this is exactly the same as some other blends that I have tried, it is very similar---and delicious! One thing about rooibos is that it marries so well with dessert flavors. The flavor profile is very much of a creamy, lemon flavor that does actually remind me of lemon meringue. The lemon in this in no way reminds lemon furniture polish. Instead it is a nice, refreshing lemon that is perfectly complemented by a creamy, vanilla flavor. The flavors combine to make an excellent dessert tea, but not in an in-your-face kind of way. This cup took a splash of dairy extraordinarily well and also is good iced. Personally, I do prefer it hot, but I am intrigued by CTH's suggestion to throw in some mint leaves. On a side note, I tried tea blending this with a raspberry herbal tea and it was awesome!

The flavor profile of this blend is excellent. If you like rooibos, lemon and vanilla flavors, then this blend is not to be missed. It is a huge cup of yummo and I found myself all but licking the cup to get that last drop out of it. One nice thing about California Tea House is that they offer free shipping on any size order, so if you just want to pick up one blend you can do so. However, this one is a bit pricey at $16 for 4 oz. and, if it was slightly more economical, I would probably have scored it a bit higher. Even so, the score reflects that this is tasty and worth a splurge.
