After a nice dinner of sirloin tips prepared by my wonderful husband, I am in the mood for a desert. Since we are really trying to eat more healthily and cut sweets out of our diets, a tea that satisfies my craving for sweets is perfect. One sample that has been calling my name has been NecessiTeas Banana Nut Bread.

Just opening up the sample is enough to make me salivate. It smells just like banana nut bread. This is a rooibos blend with banana and walnut flavors added and accented with banana and cinnamon chips. I can hardly wait for it to finish brewing.

I set up my tea-maker using four teaspoons of the blend for four cups of water. I used the setting for 205 degree water and a brew time of five minutes. The liquor brewed up to clear reddish brown I associate with rooibos. The aroma is something of a disappointment to me as the scent of bananas has disappeared. Now I am able to pick up the woodiness of the rooibos along with the heat of the cinnamon.

I have sampled a few of The NecessiTeas’ blends and I am coming to realize that the flavors just aren’t strong enough to satisfy me. This proves true again in this case. The taste of this blend is of a solid rooibos, a hint of cinnamon and a ghosting of banana in the aftertaste. This is a blend that I would very much enjoy if I wasn’t expecting the taste of banana nut bread. As it stands now, it is a disappointment.
