kteaslogoThe last time I had an Orange Spice Black Tea was probably some 10-20 years ago, when I exclusively purchased bad, mass-produced "tea" from supermarkets. I recall enjoying it at the time, but getting burned out on it quickly and then never returned.

K Teas offers up that old familiar flavor, but - as opposed to using "tea" in quotes as the aforementioned dust and dregs - K Teas utilizes a decent quality leaf (though it's unclear exactly what type of black tea is used), and blends it with bits of dried orange peel, ginger, whole cinnamon, and vanilla beans. These additives lend a "spicy" (yet not overly intense) flavor to the tea that is welcoming and delicious.

A 4 minute brew with sub-boiling water works well here, producing a bright, coppery cup. Although this tea works best when sipped at the upper range of temperature, it is also pleasant (if a bit more astringent) as it cools in the cup. The orange flavor is dominant, though the ginger and cinnamon are obvious on the "spice" side of the palate. I find this tea a bit more enjoyable, and more flavorful to boot, than K Teas' own Blood Orange Black.

A welcome return to a flavor of years past, K Teas presents an upgraded version to this classic selection.
