Thumbs up!"For me, the ability of the chocolate flavor to stand up to both the mint and the rooibos was quite impressive. I actually do feel that this helped satisfy my chocolate craving and few chocolate teas are able to accomplish that."

leafspaorganicmintrooibos"Luxuriously gratifying, this naturally non-caffeinated organic Rooibos blend makes a fine finish to a satisfying meal. Chocolate and Rooibos and mint complement each other nicely. With all the health benefits of rooibos teas this is the perfect alternative to the nighttime dessert. Also a perfect diet aid for those looking for a calorie free chocolate treat." ---LeafSpa website.

LeafSpa is a tea company that was previously unknown to me prior to their sending in samples to Teaviews for review. When my last batch of samples arrived, this one really caught my eye. I received two chocolate mint rooibos blends in that sample shipment and this one was chock full of all the extras. I was not surprised to see some mint and some cacao nibs, but this contained big chunky pieces of what turned out to be apples as well. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which chocolate mint sample rooibos blend got reviewed first!

LeafSpa lists the ingredients in this as organic rooibos, organic cacao nibs, organic peppermint leaf, organic apple, organic orange peel and organic chocolate flavor. The aroma coming from my dry sample smells delicious! While the mint does dominate, the chocolate holds it's own making me anticipate the prepared cup even more. I scooped this generously and infused the blend for a full 5 min in water that had brought to a boil. This is one of those fortunate cases where the prepared cup delivers what the dry blend promised...a tasty cuppa! While it should be no surprise that the peppermint dominates the flavor profile, the chocolate does a good job of standing up to it making a delicious backdrop. The rooibos is sweet and, while it is detectable, the chocolate mint flavor profile largely runs the show. This blend is pretty naturally sweet, but I did find that a pinch of German rock cane sugar enhanced the chocolate flavor. I also found that this took a touch of dairy quite nicely. Probably the only downfall to the blend is that the chocolate flavor is not the most authentic that I've tasted though it still does the trick quite well---maybe the addition of a few chocolate pieces would add that little something extra that would take this to a 10??

Overall, I would call this a very well done chocolate mint rooibos blend. For me, the ability of the chocolate flavor to stand up to both the mint and the rooibos was quite impressive. I actually do feel that this helped satisfy my chocolate craving and few chocolate teas are able to accomplish that. The peppermint tastes very fresh and is pretty strong so if you don't enjoy peppermint or are sensitive to mint, then you might want to avoid this one. However, I really enjoyed this cuppa and this one is going on my short list of blends that I want to purchase in the future. This one is good enough that LeafSpa is now on my radar as being a company that I would strongly recommend to others. Thumbs up!
