Today I have been craving fruity things. I had a tropical mango black tea with breakfast, a strawberry mango protein shake after my workout and, even after all that, I found myself pilfering through my sample stash looking for something fruity. Out of my sample choices, this offering from KTeas caught my eye. The dry sample really stood out as it is the only one that has green rooibush (rooibos) in it. It smells fruity and delicious and, while they were few and far between in my sample, there were actually a few pieces of what I think were dried candied peaches!

Like red rooibos, green rooibos is nearly indestructible in terms of steeping. I scooped this generously and infused it in water brought to a full boil for nearly 10 min. The liquid brewed up to a pretty golden color and smelled of fragrant, sweet peaches. The brewed cup is naturally sweet and this really requires no sweetener to be enjoyed so I would hold off on adding any sweetener until you've had an opportunity to taste it. The peach flavor errs more toward that of a natural peach than a candied peach, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it spot on. However, the peach flavor and the green rooibos unite flawlessly and taste almost as though they were made to be together. I drink 90% of my tea as a hot drink so I didn't try this one iced, but it has been my experience that green rooibos blends are tasty when iced. I did, however, try this wish a splash of non-fat cream and found that it made a delicious peaches-n-cream cuppa.

Green rooibos has a much different flavor than it's red cousin. Therefore, if you don't like red rooibos, you should not assume that you won't like green rooibos. For whatever reason, there seems to be scarce few green rooibos offerings on the market. To be candid, many of the ones that I have tried have not been memorable. While I wouldn't go so far as to call this blend mind-blowing, the marriage of the of the tasty peach flavor and the mild green rooibos is delicious. I would highly recommend this to those wanting to try out green rooibos as this is a great introductory cup and one that I will consider adding to my cupboard at some point. Thumbs up!
