Thumbs up!"The perfect tea for anyone new to Chinese white teas. It tastes just like what I had always imagined a cucumber-melon candle to taste like!"

jingwhitepeonyThe last day of holiday weekend and I am having a relaxing day. The sky is cloudy yet day is comfortable outside. My plan is to brew up a nice cup of white tea and curl up on my porch with a good book. And I am in luck as I have a White Peony Tea from JING Teas. Just what my plans call for.

This is a beautiful tea, all long silvery green leaves covered in a white down and bud sets. The aroma is light yet one of honey dew melons and surprisingly enough an undertone of licorice. The scent is so fresh that it is a treat within itself.

I set up my tea-maker using two very rounded tablespoons for four cups of water. I set the brew temp for white tea and three minutes. The resulting liquor was much darker than I expected for a white tea being a rich gold in coloring. Once brewed the aroma is almost nonexistent.

The taste however is far from being nonexistent as this is one of the hardier white teas that I have come across. The flavors of cucumber melds with the taste of cantaloupe. It tastes just like what I had always imagined a cucumber-melon candle to taste like. There is a slight dryness to each sip and a sweet aftertaste that lingers on the tongue. The word that comes to mind is ‘Yummy’.

JING Tea’s Organic White Peony is the perfect introduction to white teas as you don’t have to tease the flavors out. It is also a wonderful tea to drink while curled up with a good book.
