serendipteamilkoolongThe leaves of this tea are greenish in color and tightly rolled into compact little nuggets. The dry leaves have a floral-earthy aroma that hints at a creamy quality that is expected in a milk oolong. During the infusion, the leaves opened up to notable size and produced a brilliant golden yellow liquid. As I poured the tea, a floral-brothy aroma wafted in the air. The flavor of this tea is heavy on the floral component with a very minor earthy nuance. I was expecting a creamy taste or texture, as I have had with other milk oolongs, but really didn’t get much of it in this tea. However, I still enjoyed the tea for its smooth, clean, and lasting floral flavor. My second infusion was a bit smoother. While still heavy on the flowery notes, the earthy/nutty flavors (the “greener” flavors) were a bit more pronounced, although still what I would categorize as subtle. The second infusion has a sweeter and more well-rounded finish because the flowery prominence was diluted. I still did not pick up on a creamy or milky quality. Overall, this is not a bad oolong, and I would recommend this for those that like their oolongs on the floral size. But I do have to comment that I have had other milk oolongs that deliver far more on the milky/creamy quality.
