serendipiteacolonilleAnother rainy but not too cold spring day. I am really looking forward to and hoping for a dryer summer. The good news though is that it is the perfect day for a mug of hot tea. My choice today is SerendipiTea’s Colonille. According to their website this is a Vanilla and Vietnamese Black Tea with a distinct chocolatey taste.

My sample consists of smaller black twists of tea. There doesn’t appear to be any shake at all. The aroma is very definitely vanilla though it doesn’t really smell like real vanilla. More like an artificial additive.

Walking into the kitchen after my tea-maker beeped, I am greeted by the aroma of vanilla. Almost makes me want to bake up some sugar cookies. The liquor is a deep reddish brown with the strong scent of…you guessed it…vanilla. The aroma no longer is that of a cheap artificial vanilla which bodes well for the taste.

This tea has the natural sweetness of the vanilla with slight undertone of chocolate. Not quite what the website proclaims but still very nice. The taste is smooth with a slight dryness at the end of every sip. While not one of the best vanilla teas that I have tried, it is certainly a good addition to this genre of teas. Perfect for relaxing on a wet day.
