shantikaphabalanceI'm not too sure how I feel about Ayuvadervic teas. I'm often a rather strong cynic, and I wasn't sure how to feel when Shanti offered to let me sample their three Ayuvadervic blends. I picked the one that looked most appealing and after a few sips, I'm not sure how Ayuvadervic this is, but I am sure it's delicious.

I add no sweetener or milk, but the cup has enough spice and character that it may take well to being treated like a chai. It is spicy and warming, caffeine-free yet energizing. Each sip warms my stomach and spirit and makes my tongue tingle in a most excellent way. I can easily pick out the spiciness of the pepper, the savoury mintiness of the holy basil, the sweetness of the rooibos, and the distinctness of the fennel. If I search hard, I can taste the licoric, but since anise is one of my least favourite flavours, I am happy to ignore it.

This is a complex, unique, interesting cup. It is a pleasant surprise, and I would happily purchase it.
