Thumbs up!"This tea was remarkably sweet, with the sweetness perhaps most evident in the finish and aftertaste. The main body of the tea is equal parts savory and sweet, with the savory side hinting at grainy, nutty, and yes, even green bean, flavors. "

cantonsuperiordragonwellIf you are a frequent visitor to Teaviews, you may by now know that I love love love a good Dragonwell, or Long Jing. And as my luck would have it, today I am sampling a very delicious Dragonwell tea, Canton Tea Company’s Superior Long Jing. The leaves bear the characteristic Dragonwell shape, being broad and flat, and each leaf is relatively small, when compared to larger-leaf varieties, such as many oolongs. The dry leaves are richly scented, and while I couldn’t quite place the smell, the Canton Tea Company’s online description refers to a ‘green bean’ element, and I have to agree that yes, that is very close to what I am smelling in the dry leaves. Paying careful attention to water temperature and using sub-boiling water, I steeped a generous helping of leaves for about two and a half minutes. The greenish-golden liquid promised a wonderfully balanced sweet and nutty aroma, and the flavor followed through on that promise. This tea was remarkably sweet, with the sweetness perhaps most evident in the finish and aftertaste. The main body of the tea is equal parts savory and sweet, with the savory side hinting at grainy, nutty, and yes, even green bean, flavors. Overall, this tea still tended towards the delicate side. Therefore, this is an ideal green tea for those that do not typically prefer stronger vegetal flavors. This is a very delicious representative of a Dragonwell tea, and one that I have enjoyed drinking and sampling. There is no doubt that this is an uncommon and high quality tea. I have no reservations about recommending this tea.
