serendipcongobongoI always enjoy visiting Serendipitea's website. It's so unique and attractive and it's easy to find what you need. The most recent tea I tasted, Congo Bongo, is an Organic Fair Trade tea. Whenever given the choice, I will always choose an Organic Fair Trade product!

I really enjoy tropical flavors, including in my tea, so I chose Congo Bongo based on the mango and coconut flavoring paired with Nilgiri tea.

It's dark tea with large thin leaves - and yellow petals sprinkled throughout. I don't know what the petals are as the are not listed in the ingredients, but I suspect it was to give the tea a bit of a tropical look.

I brewed it with fresh water that had just come to boil and used my in cup infuser. It brews up a nice dark golden color with quite a tropical smell. The flavor of mango/tropical fruit is much stronger than coconut. If you add sweetener, it does bring out the coconut a bit, but it remains a background flavor.

To my disappointment, the flavor of the tropical fruit overpowered the flavor of the Nilgiri tea. Though I enjoy flavored tea, I always want the tea to be the primary flavor. I did not find this to be true in Congo Bongo.

For those who enjoy a good strong fruit flavored tea, this is a good choice for a tea.
