kteaslogoKTeas is more than just a tea store/website. There is so much to read and learn from their website. They also sell some amazing accessories, tea ware, cozies, mixes... you might think with such a huge array of items, their tea might be of lesser quality, But, it's not! I love looking through their website and greatly enjoyed my sample of their Assam Reserve.

Black teas are my favorite, and I was excited when I saw this tea. The size of the leaves, and the lovely medium brown leaves speckled with golden tips told me this would be a good tea. I had no idea how good!

I brewed it two different ways. I used my "Mary Pop-In" - also from KTeas and brewed a pot of Assam Reserve. I begn drinking the pot of tea after 5 min of brewing and continued for the next half hour. It was a delicious pot of tea. This Assam started out very smooth and full bodied. It is malty as a good Assam should be, but it is not overly malty! It did get a stronger and then a little more astringent as it brewed longer, but the whole pot was delicious.

I also brewed it in a basket infuser, brewing it for 7 minutes and then removing it. The leaves open large and the this pot of tea was also delicious. It takes milk very well, and sugar if that is a must (though I found I really enjoyed it with just milk).

I am amazed at the lack of bitterness and astringency in this Assam. The high quality is so evident in the flavor. I often use Assam in a mix with other teas as I often find it too malty or too astringent by itself. Not this one. It makes an excellent brisk morning pot of tea, and a great refreshing afternoon pot of tea!
