kteaslogoThe silver-tipped crunchy brown leaves of this tea are curled and beautiful. Few leaves are this heavily visually enticing, so I look forward to being able to see if the flavour reaches the same level.

After 4 minutes with boiling water, my cup has a light copper liquor with a calm honey scent. The tea is soft and sweet with slight notes of honey and fruit. It is somewhat nutty, though mildly so. It is a pleasant, calming tea that threatens to lull me to sleep before I can manage a second steep.

I leave the second infusion for 6 minutes and get a tea very similar to the first in both scent and flavour. It is even calmer and more subtle that the first, however. It is sweet and flavourful enough to make the tea well worth the second infusion. I don't have enough leaf left to attempt it, but I imagine this would stand up relatively well to gong fu-style brewing.

This is a lovely, unobtrusive leaf. It would pair readily with meals, either blending well with more subtle flavours or staying out of the way of bolder tastes. If you can handle the minimal caffeine, it's a good bedtime cup. If you can't, it is still a good candidate for winding down and relaxing.
