jingpreraindragonwellIn the middle of the afternoon, I suddenly have a craving for some tea. Now given the time of day, I'm not necessarily looking for something with a heavy, rich liquor or lots of caffeine, but I'm not in the mood for anything floral tasting either.  Then I remember my sample of Jing Tea's Pre-Rain Organic Dragonwell Supreme green tea and my craving is satisfied.

Upon opening the bag, I already know I've made the right choice. The rich, nutty aroma almost cancels out the subtle grassy notes. And of course the vibrant green flat-pressed leaves, distinctive to Dragonwell teas, also give the tea a pleasing visual appeal. I eagerly steep 2 teaspoons per cup at a little less than 170F for about three minutes. Its pale yellow liquor is well rounded and the rich, nutty flavor is balanced nicely with the slightest bit of astrigency on the tip of my tongue. So despite its thick and full flavor, you can really taste the springtime freshness in this delicately harvested leaf. A wonderful choice for tea when you can't decide between a sweet or more mellow leaf.
