Strawberry Vanilla is lovely just as long as you don't burn the leaves and fruit. As with all green teas, they must be made with much less than boiling water, or the delicate green leaves will burn, leaving the taste seared and bitter. I made this particular blend at 79?C with a bagged tea in my favourite Caribou Coffee cup. Bagged teas generally lose a bit of their kick because the tea doesn't have enough room to mingle about with the water, so the normal surface area exposed to the water is greatly reduced in a bag. The down side is the risk of losing flavour, the upside is that it is more difficult to oversteep any tea, although the possibility still remains quite probable.

This tea brewed a light yellowy green and smelled very sweet, if the tea had tasted as sweet as it smelled I don't believe it would have been enjoyable. However, the folks at Lupicia apparently added enough sweetness to counteract any sour that was emitted by the strawberries, thus canceling each other to a degree and leaving behind a drop or two of strawberry juiciness and whispers of vanilla elegance. The matcha effectuated a wonderful trick with the sultry sweetness to give the flavour the pizzazz of crisp green tea. The traditional strawberries and cream taste and smell was blended with a subtle gritty texture of matcha on greens. Really this tea is for someone who is in the mood for honeyed tea, but if the mood strikes, Strawberry Vanilla is the perfect tea to keep on hand.
