kteaslogoFor many of us, January is a time of reflection, a month to think about the previous year and what the upcoming year may hold.  It is also a time to get after those New Year’s resolutions.  This year I decided my resolution would be to eat better and get more exercise.  As part of my resolution, I decided to follow a brief detox program for the month.  For the first week, caffeine was already banned so I thought this would be a perfect time to break out a decaf tea.  Luckily KTeas Rooibush Plum Cinnamon was waiting for me.

In my mind, plum and cinnamon are two flavors that really go hand-in-hand.  I’m always interested in trying this combo whenever it is available.  The ingredients are listed as rooibos, plum pieces, cinnamon, cornflower blossoms, and natural flavors.  My particular sample was very colorful, with splashes of blue and orange over the rusty brown of the rooibos.

To prepare my cup I used one heaping teaspoon in water brought to a boil and allowed to cool with a five-minute steep.  The resulting cup is heavy with the aroma of cinnamon and a dense fruity sweetness.  With such a strong scent, I was excited to give this a try.  The first few sips surprised me, as there was very little flavor.  As I continued to sip, the flavors of the tisane remained illusive.  While there was a fruity quality to the blend it was very muted, as was the cinnamon.  Both ingredients lingered in the background but never fully stepped up and made themselves clear.  Although I was hoping for a little more kick from this tisane, it still provided a relatively nice comforting cup on a cold night.
