Karma Blends offers some really innovative combinations of ingredients in their artisan blends, and Go Green is no exception. This tea consists of green tea, lemon thyme, mint, and lemon peel granules. I was really excited to see the lemon thyme, as that is not an ingredient that one frequently sees used in teas. The Karma Blend website does not specify what type of green tea is used, but based on the broad, flat leaf shape and mild flavor profile, I would guess that a Japanese bancha is what is used here. After infusing the leaves for three minutes at 185 degrees, the tea was ready. This is a tea that had me hooked after the first sip. The flavor is crisp, refreshing, and clean. No one ingredient overpowers the other; instead they mingle harmoniously to create a well-rounded drink that leaves the palate feeling clean and refreshed. I don't often find myself saying this about green teas, but I actually enjoyed this one iced more than I enjoyed it hot, although that's not to say that it wasn't enjoyable as a hot drink too, but rather that the lemon and mint flavors really perform well when put over ice. The flavor combination is relatively simple, so I'll do without a long-winded review here, but the bottom line is this is a fairly light-bodied brew that delivers a light, yet convincing, flavor that will satisfy and refresh. This is a tea that I would have no hesitation in drinking again, and would enthusistically recommend to others.
