Empire Tea Services website doesn't state much information about this tea. "Gunpowder green tea with peach/apricot flavor." This is the second tea sample I've tried from this company, and both have been pleasantly surprisingly. Although this should be expected as Empire Tea Services have 38 years of experience in the tea industry with impressive credentials such as the President of the company, Mr. Paranavitana, spent 18 years as the manager of the Nuwara Eliya Tea Estate in Sri Lanka. Empire Tea Services is made up of tea importers, merchants, consultants and blenders that create many of the teas offered on their website, several in batches no bigger than five pounds at a time. They offer high quality teas from Sri Lanka, India and China.

This is a dark charcoal green colored gunpowder that smells overwhelmingly of peaches and apricots. No doubt one of the strongest scented flavored teas I've ever smelled. Maybe a bit cloying to the nasal passages but it does certainly smell delicious. The pellets are very small, tightly rolled and have a delicate sheen to them; all three being a good indication of a high quality, relatively fresh tea.

I can't find any information on the website for brewing instructions. I steeped one teaspoon per eight ounces at 180 degrees for three minutes in a glass tea mug. I'm the proud owner of a Breville One-Touch Tea Maker and use it for a lot of my teas but I wanted to watch the leaves expand and ensure they had room to do so.

The leaves unfurl to a spinach appearance and scent, with peppery notes and even after steeping still smell very strongly of peach and apricot. Steeps to a medium yellow green liquor with a hint of amber. The peach and apricot flavors are much more subdued in aroma and taste in comparison to the dry leaves, yet are still very prominent and bold. This is the best peach/apricot flavor I've tasted in a tea, and being a big peach lover, I've tried many offerings in said flavor. The fruity flavors are also nicely balanced with the flavor of the gunpowder. It's bold yet smooth and there is no bitterness present. Satisfying mouthfeel. Enjoyable smoky, tobacco notes make this reminiscent of a peach flavored cigar. There is also a very strong, likable vegetal quality. I ended up adding a bit of raw honey to the left over and chilling it, which ended up being very delicious. I will definitely be putting this on the must buy list and eagerly looking forward to trying many more of Empire Tea Services' teas.
