bostonlemonhoneychamomileBoston Tea Co. seems to have a fondness for lemon, not that I’m complaining. Ingredients for their Honey Lemon Chamomile blend included a chamomile flowers, lemongrass, and honey flakes. (Not quite sure what a "honey flake" is.) However, of their lemony blends, this one was the most understated on dry whiff. Chamomile was front and center, followed by a loud honey after-whiff, but I detected very little citrus. Given that the blend used lemongrass, I wasn’t too surprised.

There may have been brewing instructions on the site, but I didn't look. At the time of this writing, I was tired and lethargic. I went with a typical herbal medley modified for teabags - a 16oz. mug, boiled water, and a five-minute steep. I dunked the bag, plugged the countdown into the microwave timer and waited.

The liquor brewed up to a pale honey-gold (as if that weren’t expected) with a strong chamomile nose. In fact, chamomile was all I detected on first sniff. I have no idea what happened to the other title ingredients. Luckily, they showed up in the taste. Alone with the medicinally floral front imparted by the chamo, lemongrass finally showed itself in the body, while honey lent a creamy finish. At first, I was “meh” about it. But as the remains of the rough day flaked off with each sip, I grew to enjoy its smooth texture and gentle delivery. For a before-bedtime beverage, this works.
