Thumbs up!"The flavors are dense in this herbal blend, but they’re also very well orchestrated so that makes for an enjoyable tea drinking experience. "

You’re a delicious imp Chocolate Chai! Tantalizing my taste buds with your aromatic siren song. Whispering sweet promises of luscious chocolate and exotic spices with every sip of your delectable liquor. I’m powerless to resist your allure Chocolate Chai.

I am powerless to resist the allure of chocolaty chai teas. The idea of pairing chocolate and spicy chai tea is nothing new, and I have to admit that my previous experiences with the pairing have been hit or miss. Some tea companies go too heavy on the chai spices, and others concentrate too much on the chocolate Well, I ‘m happy to report that thanks to The California Tea House’s Chocolate Chai, my quest for the perfect chocolaty chai tea is over. California Tea House is a San Diego Based company that offers an exciting array of teas and tea blends, and this perfectly balanced herbal chai is one of their gems.

The aroma of Chocolate Chai is enthralling! I can’t help but put my nose into the bag to better breathe in all of the spiced chocolate goodness. The infusion is a dark amber color with a spicy nose. At first sip, I taste the cocoa nibs and that flavor develops quickly into a clove(y) chicory essence with delicate pepper notes. The finish has a punch of cardamom to it that lingers on my pallet, and that mellows into a sweetness that brings me back to the cocoa nibs. The flavors are dense in this herbal blend, but they’re also very well orchestrated so that makes for an enjoyable tea drinking experience.

I brewed Chocolate Chai at 212 degrees for 5 minutes. I enjoyed my cup of tea plain, but we’re talking about a chai after all so I’m sure it would be fabulous with a little turbinado sugar and coconut cream. I bet it would also taste wonderful steeped in coconut milk for a lovely chai latté. I highly recomend you try this tea!
