The Necessiteas Lemon Chiffon is a great cup of tea! It is a blend of green rooibos, lemongrass, lemon peel, vanilla chips, and natural flavour. The first thing I noticed about this tea was the bright, vibrant lemon scent. I love lemon flavoured things but I’ve noticed that most tea companies have a hard time making a good lemon tea. This tea is by far my favourite lemon flavoured tea! It is made from green rooibos which has a slightly grassy or malty flavour which adds to the fruity flavour of the tea.

I brewed the tea at 100C for 5 minutes and immediately noticed the fresh lemon scent. The liquor appears golden brown with almost an orange tinge to it. The scent was also a bit tangy and crisp which excited my palate to taste the tea. I took my first sip and was astonished by the tangy flavour. In fact, it tasted a lot like a lemondrop candy. The lemon blends well the unusual green rooibos. The flavours balanced nicely with the lemon complementing and bringing a new fresh dimension to the rooibos.

Green rooibos is similar to its red counterpart but it is processed in a slightly different way. Red rooibos is picked from the redbush and then the needle-like leaves are oxidised. Green rooibos is not oxidised which leaves it the original green colour of the leaves. It is harder to process this type of rooibos which makes it more expensive and rare. Usually rooibos tea is made from red rooibos but the green variety is a must-try with its slightly different flavour.

Lemon Chiffon is a nice tea. I tried it iced as well as hot and found it to be a great summer treat. This tea is vibrant and fresh with a tangy aftertaste of lemon. I enjoyed the freshness of this tea mingled with the vegetal flavour of the green rooibos. I would recommend this tea to anyone who enjoys the lemon flavour. I shared it with a friend who doesn’t like tea and she loved it! Definitely a recommendation from me!
