California Tea House offers a great variety of teas. They claim to offer the highest quality tea, and their Apricot Chai was exactly that.

The leaves are large, full and dark. The smell of apricots is strong and made my mouth water before I had even brewed a cup.

Apricot Chai combines this wonderful black tea, with apricots and peaches, vanilla, ginger and cloves. California Tea House says, "After researching ancient aphrodisiacs and choosing the tastiest of those that would pair well with our gourmet black tea, we landed on a blend that will tweak your palate as well as your interest!"

I brewed my Apricot Chai just like I would any quality black tea, using fresh water brought to a boil. I steeped it 5-7 minutes. Five minutes gave a nice, light, black cup of tea with lots of flavor. Seven minutes gave me a stronger tea that did not get bitter.

The smell of the apricots and peaches is so warming and fresh. I added a little honey and some milk and it was a lovely cup of tea!

I was surprised, though, that this tea was called a chai because I didn't taste any spice. Even when I steeped it 7 minutes, I still only smelled and tasted the apricots and peaches, and maybe a bit of the vanilla. I love ginger and I love spices, so I was a little disappointed I couldn't taste the spice.

It's a nice, quality, cup of black tea. I can't say it "got me in the mood" and I can't say it's a nice spicy tea. But it is a nice fruity delight that is good in summer, and brings the summer back all year long.
