BOH Plantations are purportedly Malaysia's largest producer of black tea (they even have an assortment of slickly-produced television commercials). While the anti-corporate sentiments in me kind of repel at such a behemoth producer of goods, versus the warm-and-fuzzy mom-and-pop operations, BOH apparently does a nice job at philanthropy and tea education, supporting the arts, wildlife conservation, and other noble efforts at being generally good folks.

On with the program. BOH's Palas Supreme is one of their best-selling teas. Its name is derived from the source - the Sungei Palas Tea Plantation from where it is harvested, which is a popular tourist destination in the Cameron Highlands region of Malaysia. The tea itself is considered a flowery pekoe - AKA a medium-grade and -sized black tea. The dried leaves are generally medium-length, appropriately rolled and curled, and uniform in color (deep mahogany). The aroma is quite nice - mildly sweet with hints of raisins and dates, and a slight perfumey character.

An infusion of 3.5 minutes develops a bright coppery cup with a similar aroma to that of the dried leaf, though a bit more subdued. It is immediately palatable, and while retaining a very bold flavor, it is incredibly smooth and highly drinkable. In fact, there is not much to say about its depth - there are no off flavors or hidden treasures here. There's just a touch of the aforementioned dried fruit in the flavor profile of this tea too, but it is slight, and less sweet than the aroma may let on. However, it works very well. All said, this is just straight up, quaffable black tea with a pleasing flavor that lasts not much longer than it takes to sip it, but thusly keeps you drinking it, sip after sip, and cup after cup. A very good straight black tea for having around for everyday sipping and casual drinking.
