Herbal Infusions is a Canadian-based tea company out of Toronto, and although they have a dedicated focus on Ayurvedic and herbal tisanes, they do also carry various black, green, oolong and white teas.

This tisane separates itself from the pack in a few ways. Firstly, 2nd cut peppermint is used, which is widely considered the best. The second cut occurs in autumn, and generally results in more intense peppermint, better flavors, and overall intensified properties. Secondly, this blend contains lavender, which makes a nice visual embellishment, as well as adding a little something to the flavor profile.

Flavor-wise, this is some great peppermint. You know those ridiculously-over-the-top 5 Gum commercials where something happens like a supermodel diving into a polar ice cap being melted by an active volcano? Something to that effect comes to mind while sipping an intense peppermint tea like this. Although it’s hot tea, there’s an incredible cooling sensation from the peppermint, and it’s like a sensory blitzkrieg. I was concerned about stifling the leaves’ potential by confining them to the pyramidal mesh that they are packaged in, but it’s clear that has no bearing on the intensity or quality of this delicious beast.

I do love a peppermint tea, and I do consider myself a bit of a peppermint connoisseur, and there is no mistaking the quality of the mint used in this tisane. Certainly in my top 5 of peppermint teas I have imbibed over the years, and I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend it.
